Mediprene TPE compounds respond to need for PVC free medical tubing.
In response to the growing demand for PVC free medical devices, the VTC TPE Group have added to their Mediprene TPE compounds family with a range of grades specifically developed for medical tubing applications.
In recent years there has been a growing trend among hospitals and medical institutions to convert to PVC free products as health concerns grew over the potential leaching of PVC plasticizers in medical devices. The new Mediprene TPE compounds are completely PVC, silicone and latex free, making them allergen free and a viable alternative to PVC-based compounds. Mediprene is also 100% recyclable, significantly reducing common disposal problems.
The new Mediprene grades have been designed to address a number of other key medical requirements for medical tubing. These include a high level of transparency, allowing for clear visibility of the passage of liquids and anti-kinking properties to ensure the free flow of liquids and gasses through the tubing. Mediprene TPE tubing grades also have good damping properties, thereby slowly recovering after deformation like PVC.

The grades are available in a range of hardnesses to suit the application and as a TPE displays excellent chemical resistance. Grades have also been developed that are oil free to minimize leaching & extractables, offering a much wider range of applications when compared with alternate materials. Mediprene compounds are based on medically approved raw materials with high biocompatibility status and are sterilizable with gamma, EtO and steam.
