Toys must fulfil many requirements; mechanical, dimensional and chemical. A key requirement for plastics is the maximum migration limit for some soluble heavy metals. Referring to the EN71/3 norm, if we put a toy in a 0.07 N solution of hydrochloric acid the maximum quantity of extractable heavy metals must not exceed the following quantities (expressed in ppm=mg/kg). These limits are intended for the complete toy.
